Yet again we slept in and went about the actions of the morning. We paid the bill and left by 12pm to catch a metro into town to pick up four developed rolls of film and go on a shopping extravaganza. Puerta del Sol was the place to be as it has the largest El Cortes Inglese department store. Whilst Dave picked up the photographs I looked at all the clothing, shoes and handbags imaginable. Unfortunately I spent the rest of the afternoon in its magnificent marble clad toilets, thanks to our Mexican feast last night!! and came out a bag-less shopper.

The electronics section had an internet users centre and we spent a good half an hour on that. Afterwards Dave drooled over all the electronic goodies and gadgets on offer, looking for his Christmas present. To finish off a wonderful three days in Madrid, we returned to our favourite art nouveau cafe and tapas bar for the usual coffee and portion of salmon. To sum it all up Madrid does not offer the world renowned Gaudi architecture of Barcelona, but comes complete with its own medieval and 19th century gems worth more than just a quick glance and most memorably comes alive late at night, like no other city, where the vibe continues way after the rising of dawn.

We ascended into the dark of night from the bowels of the metro station and found the time to be 7pm. The campsite wasn't inviting enough to spend another night, so we pressed on south to "Holy" Toledo, through the throngs of motorway traffic, becoming a target for the usual crowd of dangerous Iberian drivers. It only took 1 hour to get down there, passing a silhouetted barren landscape. The campsite was located 2 kilometres from town and on arrival we settled down to a pasta dish and the warmth and comfort that many e-mails provide.
